TABLES and TEMPLATES extracted from the Manual on Codes, Volume I.2

NOTES:
(1) The latest versions of GRIB (24.0.0) and of BUFR and CREX (33.0.0), are effective as of 6 November 2019.
The version number may consist of three parts: FORMAL (operational updates), SUB-1 (pre-operational
updates) and SUB-2 (others, such as editorial corrections) numbers, delimited by a full stop ".".
(2) TABLES and TEMPLATES (docx, pdf) in the Latest column may contain operational and pre-operational
(in Italic) entries, both of which could be used in operational data and products.
(3) Entries under validation and validation complete but waiting for the effective date are shown in the None-
operational column separately (docx, pdf). Please note that non-operational entries may not be used in
operational data and products, and validation entries may be modified during the validation process.
(4) txt/xml (zip) files in the Latest column contain operational and pre-operational entries of GRIB, BUFR,
CREX and common code tables. These could be incorporated in operational encoders/decoders.
(5) txt/xml (zip) files in the Non-operational column contain operational, pre-operational and non-operational
entries, which are specifically made for validation purposes and may assist in checking the integrity of new
entries to be proposed.
(6) Machine-readable tables with the element description column are provided experimentally for GRIB Code/
Flag tables and BUFR/CREX Table B.

(8) BUFR tables version 13 and CREX tables version 5 have backward compatibility. These machine-readable
files are available for practical use from the page linked from the item 7 above.
(9) If there are inconsistencies between the same entries available below and the Manual on Codes, Volume I.2
(WMO-No. 306), the Manual prevails.
(10) Due to the transition to the new web management system in the WMO Secretariat, the tables below are
restructured for efficiency.
