Mission
Special Advisor to the President of CCl on High-level Science-Policy Climate Related Issues
Terms of Reference
- Report on and interpret relevant decisions and outcomes of high level science-policy climate related events, such as the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Conference of Parties (COP), as to their implications for WMO and CCl’s work;
- Advise the President of CCl on implications relevant to climate data, observations, monitoring, prediction and projection, according to discussions and deliberations in the UNFCCC Research Dialogue and agenda items related to Research and Systematic Observations during SBSTA sessions ;
- Facilitate the linkage of CCl methodologies and toolkits with adaptation planning and practices, such as are described in the UNFCCC guidelines on National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and promote their use in the Focal Point Forum on the Nairobi Work Programme;
- Advise the President of CCl on the integration of CCl outputs into UNFCCC policy processes;
- Explore additional means to improve the linkage between the CCl and the UNFCCC processes.
