A career in meteorology
Author: World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
Meteorology is one of the most international branches of science. The weather and climate do not know any borders. Thus, meteorologists and atmospheric scientists work very closely together worldwide. A family atmosphere prevails among those specialists. Weather services also contribute to sustainable development and the United Nations 2030 Agenda. Storms and other weather and climate impacts can destroy lives and infrastructure, setting national development back by years. Many communities need to become more resilient in the face of natural hazards and climate impacts such as sea-level rise, floods and droughts. Meteorologists can be proud of their role in helping people to protect themselves more effectively and to build safer and more productive societies.
