The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) organized a small Task Team (TT) to respond to a request from the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) to assist them with determining the meteorological aspects of a dose assessment of the radiological releases from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. The TT’s primary mission was to examine how using meteorological analyses and introducing additional meteorological observa- tional data might improve atmospheric transport, dispersion and deposition calculations, critical components in dose computation.
