Terms of Reference
1. Review and recommend the update to the Manual on the Integrated Processing and Prediction (WIPPS) (WMO-No. 485) and the Guide to WIPPS (WMO-No. 305) to SC-WIPPS, including functions and products relevant to WIPPS activities under its responsibility
2. Analyze and identify gaps for WIPPS activities relevant to atmospheric composition forecast, including sand and dust, vegetation fire and other atmospheric composition related forecast (hereafter, atmospheric composition forecast) in WIPPS RRR process, under the coordination by Expert Teams on WIPPS Design and Evolution (ET-WIPPSDE) under Standing Committee on WIPPS (SC-WIPPS)
3. Review periodically compliance of WIPPS Designated Centres (WIPPS-DCs) under its responsibility with the Manual to ensure that their functions are conducted properly, and quality-assured products are delivered to Members in a timely manner; This includes the assessment of the technical capabilities of applicants to WIPPS-DCs.
4. Provide guide on the standard verification methods atmospheric composition forecast.
5. Develop, review, and update the relevant publication materials
6. Provide guidance on capacity building related to the comprehension of atmospheric composition forecast and contribute to outreach activities designed by SC-WIPPS and other related activities and entities such as Regional Training Centres
7. Evaluate new developments and advances in forecast models and related systems, focusing on both in operational and research regarding atmospheric composition forecast
8. Provide the guidance to WIPPS-DCs under its responsibility to support the developments of their technical capabilities
9. Coordinate emerging infrastructure requirements with WIPPS-DCs under its responsibility
10. Coordinate the WIPPS activities under its responsibility and also relevant activities in collaboration with relevant expert groups in Research Board, Technical Commissions, and partner organizations if necessary
