Terms of Reference

The RA V Research Focal Points (RFPs) maintain awareness of the activities and priorities of the Research Board (RB) and explore opportunities to extend or adapt them to the regional level with the following Terms of Reference (ToR):

(a) Follow up on resolutions, decisions and recommendations of Congress, the Executive Council, RA V and RA V Management Group (MG), addressing research matters (WMO Long-Term Goal (LTG) 3), to facilitate their implementation through the activities which are planned or delivered at the regional level;

(b) Identify research needs among Members, including regional implementation of the World Weather Research Programme (WWRP), World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and Global Atmosphere Watch Programme (GAW), and support capacity-development activities (LTG 4), to be included in the RA V Operating Plan (Work Programme);

(c) Promote WMO research programme activities at the regional level, and facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing between RA V and other regions where there are shared priorities or joint initiatives;

(d) Reach out and promote collaboration with research institutions, academia, and other stakeholders to enhance national and regional partnerships for weather, climate, hydrology, marine and other environmental-related research, on behalf of the Association;

(e) Submit annual reports to the RA V MG, on their[New Zealand] activities and recommendations, and share their reports with Members and the RB.
