Terms of Reference
Terms of Reference:
• Identify indicators to monitor adaptation. These indicators may be based on physical as well as socio-economic data.
• Report on current status of observation availability and adequacy for adaptation and outline benefits improvements could produce
• Consider what requirements, guidance and best practice for climate observations for adaptation may be needed and how to produce them
• Advise Scientific Panels of GCOS on how to promote observations for adaptation in the existing global climate observing system
• The task team shall exist for an initial period of one year and will be extended according to identified needs.
• An interim report should be prepared and sent to the GCOS Steering Committee in October 2018
• A report should be delivered to the GCOS Joint Panel meeting in March 2019.
• The task team shall work primarily remotely, facilitated by the GCOS secretariat. It is possible, subject to needs and to funding being available, that a meeting will be organized before the GCOS Joint Panel Meeting in March 2019.
• The GCOS secretariat should be informed of progress and invited to any teleconferences, meetings, etc
