CREWS/SWFP - Southeast Asia Training Workshop on Severe Weather and Impact-based Forecast and Warning Services (Phnom Penh, 23 October - 03 November 2023)
The CREWS/SWFP - Southeast Asia in-country Training Workshop on Severe Weather and IBFWS will be hosted in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 23 October to 3 November 2023. The training workshop will be organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in collaboration with the Department of Meteorology, Cambodia and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC). The two-week training workshop will address capacity development needs of operational forecasters from Cambodia in nowcasting, NWP interpretation and use in short- and medium-range forecasting, and will also seek to expose operational staff to impact-based forecast and warning services (IBFWS) and the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP). The second week of the training which will mainly focus on IBFWS, communication of warnings and CAP, is also expected to be attended by representatives of stakeholder organizations in addition to operational forecasters.
