Technical Planning Meeting for SWFP Implementation in Central America (San José, Costa Rica, 21-25 October 2024)
In support of the UN Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative, SWFP is being scaled up in collaboration with Members and with support from our development partners and donors including for its geographical expansion to more countries and sub-regions as feasible, in addition to improving severe weather guidance products. A Technical Planning Meeting for SWFP Implementation in Central America is planned in San José, Costa Rica during 21-25 October 2024.
The NMHSs of countries in Central America including Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama as well as potential contributing Global and Regional Centres are invited to attend the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting is to determine the needs and requirements of countries in Central America to define the scope of SWFP implementation in the Central American and prepare a (draft) regional implementation plan, including the establishment of a Regional Subprogramme Management Team (RSMT). The meeting is in line with the global SWFP priority of expanding its geographic scope to cover Central American region in support of the EW4All.
