WIS| News | 2023-06 | The 2nd WIS 2.0 Training Workshop in Trinidad and Tobago
The second WIS 2.0 training workshop was held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago for the Caribbean Meteorological Organization, from 12 to 16 June 2023. The aim of this workshop is to help Caribbean countries to implement WIS 2.0. The training addresses capacity building of the Caribbean Countries' staff to be able to install, configure and use the wis2box software, as a reference implementation of a WIS2 node, and better understand the WIS 2.0 architecture.
20 professionals from 15 National Meteorological and Hydrological Services from the Caribbean and Argentina participated in this training. The training workshop emphasizes hands-on practical exercises and interactive sessions to maximize participants' engagement and learning. All the participants presented their current observation network and IT infrastructure on the first day and provided their WIS 2.0 national plan on the last day.
Designed in a tailored approach, the workshop addresses the specific needs and challenges faced by these nations, and provides them with the knowledge of wis2box implementation, paving the way for ongoing cooperation and future endeavors for the Caribbean countries to transit to WIS 2.0.
