wis2box-1.0.0rc1 Release Announcement and Call for Feedback

Welcome to our wis2box Newsletter 

This newsletter is your go-to source for the latest updates, releases, and improvements for wis2box, the open-source software designed for publishing meteorological and environmental data in compliance with WIS 2.0 standards. Our goal is to keep you informed with key insights and updates that will help you make the most of your wis2box experience, while also inviting your valuable feedback to help us continually improve.

We are excited to announce the release of wis2box-1.0.0rc1, the first Release Candidate for the upcoming 1.0.0 version of WIS2 in a box!

Release Candidate for WIS2 in a box 

This release represents a significant milestone as it is considered feature-complete and is under consideration for the final 1.0.0 release. wis2box-1.0.0rc1 version includes several important improvements: 

✅ Enhanced update mechanisms for existing installations
✅ Multiple bug fixes for improved stability
✅ Updated WIS2 compliance features
✅ SFTP support for ingesting data
✅ Configure your own logo on the user-interface

We Need Your Feedback

Please send your feedback and experience by email to  wis2-support@wmo.int using the subject "wis2box-1.0.0rc1 feedback".

Your email should include any observations, suggestions, or issues you've encountered while testing the rc1.

All feedback must be submitted by March 5, 2025. This will allow us to process and incorporate your valuable input into the final 1.0.0 release.

Upgrade Instructions

✅ Upgrading from version 1.0b8? You can preserve your station and dataset configurations by following the migration instructions on the wis2box-releases page.

✅ Upgrading from older versions? A fresh installation is required.
