Study Group on Ocean Observations and Infrastructure Systems (SG-OOIS)
- Chair: Dr Paula ETALA (Argentina)
- Vice-Chair: Dr R. VENKATESAN (India)
Ocean Observations and Infrastructure are foundational to the delivery of forecast and decision support services across the weather, water, climate and ocean regimes. The Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) helps to identify and use appropriate instruments for assessing the ocean observation requirements, evaluates the effectiveness of ocean observing systems and identifies gaps (e.g. through impact studies), and makes recommendations on the desired evolution of the observing networks.
