SWFP – South Asia and Southeast Asia - Training Workshop on Severe Weather and Impact Based Forecasting and Warning Services (ONLINE, 28 February - 10 March 2022))
The SWFP training workshop for South Asia and Southeast Asia is to be organized online remotely in collaboration with Met Office UK, RSMC New Delhi, RFSC Ha Noi and RSMC Hong Kong and with support from development partners and donors. The workshop will address capacity building needs of operational forecasters including public weather services (PWS) staff of the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) of 13 countries involved in WMO Severe Weather Forecasting Programme (SWFP) and Asia Regional Resilience to a Changing Climate (ARRCC) programme. The ARRCC is implemented by Met Office UK, in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the World Bank. The implementation of SWFP in Southeast Asia has been supported by the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) through CREWS Initiative during 2017-2021, and it will be supported by CREWS-Cambodia & Lao PDR project during 2021-2025.
