💡 Special Issue of IMD's Journal MAUSAM - Proceedings of 7th International Workshop on Monsoons (IWM-7)
The 7th International Workshop on Monsoons (IWM) under the World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) was organized jointly by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India and the WWRP Working Group on Tropical Meteorology Research (WGTMR), in cooperation with the CLIVAR/GEWEX Monsoons Panel of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP), the International Monssons Project Office (IMPO) hosted by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) and the Indian Meteorological Society.
The goal of IWM-7 was to discuss recent developments in monsoon modelling, its prediction, new technologies and tools used for the prediction of extreme rainfall events, field experiments and the application of monsoon prediction capabilities to derive social benefits. The prediction of monsoon will cover all spatial and temporal scales, from weather and sub-seasonal to seasonal and decadal, as well as for long-term climate change projections,
The workshop was arranged during 22-26 March 2022. The proceedings of IMW-7 with 22 research papers by eminent scientists across the globe on various disciplines of monsoon have been published in the special issue of IMD's journal "MAUSAM". The Guest Editorial team with Prof . C. P. Chang along with other members worked as the Guest Editor in bringing out this special issue.
The special issue is available in the journal MAUSAM here, and can also be found on the IWM7 webpage.
