CREWS/SWFP Regional Online Training on Nowcasting Tools using EUMETSAT Satellite Products, October 2023
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), in collaboration with the State Meteorological Agency of Spain (AEMET), is organizing an online training on nowcasting tools using EUMETSAT satellite products for the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) in African countries. The workshop is supported through the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) initiative funded projects in Africa and will benefit all African countries including especially those involved in the WMO Severe Weather Forecasting Programme (SWFP).
The training workshop will be organized in both English and French as per the following schedule:
- 16 and 19 October 2023, between 8:00-10:30 UTC on each day (two sessions in English for non-francophone countries)
- 23 and 26 October 2023, between 8:00-10:30 UTC on each day (two sessions in French for francophone countries)
NMHS may choose to attend any of the above options as feasible (not more than one).
The workshop aims to strengthen operational forecasters’ capacities in satellite-based nowcasting tools and techniques using EUMETSAT software and products for very short-range forecasting.
