Research to Operations: Advancing Biometeorology and Public Health in Alignment with WMO Regional Association VI Priorities
The Weather and Well-Being Symposium, which took place at the University of Barcelona on September 5–6, 2024, was a pivotal moment in the development of biometeorology and public health outreach.
The symposium's theme, "Communicating Biometeorological Knowledge for Public Health," supported the goal of WMO Regional Association VI, which is to improve research transfer into operational services, especially when it comes to health concerns associated with weather.
Important players in the process of bridging the knowledge gap between scientific research and its useful application in operational services were research centers, universities, and the National Meteorological Services.
The Symposium was co-organized by the WMO Regional Office for Europe, which continues its objective of fusing scientific research with real-world applications for environmental resilience and public health.
