RA VI–19 Pre-Briefing Event: Preparing for the Upcoming Session

The Regional Association VI (RA VI) Pre-Briefing Event successfully set the stage for the upcoming RA VI–19 session, bringing together key stakeholders, including Permanent Representatives, Hydrological Advisers, International Advisers (INTAD-6), and partner agencies. Held on 17 September 2024, the online session via Zoom was conducted in English and included a planned recording for future reference.

The pre-briefing was chaired by Mrs. Mateescu, the RA VI president, who opened the session with a warm welcome. The event's agenda aimed to ensure that all participants, from experienced Members to newcomers, were aligned and well-prepared for the RA VI–19 session.

Attendees were briefed on the goals and objectives of the RA VI–19 session, laying the groundwork for productive discussions.

The Induction Session segment covered methods of work and guidelines for online participation, helping attendees navigate WMO protocols and ensuring a seamless virtual experience.

Essential documents for the RA VI–19 session were reviewed, enabling participants to familiarize themselves with their content and access resources critical for effective contributions.

Interactive Q&A Session gave participants the opportunity to seek clarifications and address specific concerns. The presence of representatives from various WMO technical departments and offices ensured comprehensive support. 

The session featured a joint presentation by Dr Kornélia Radics and Mrs Natalia Berghi from the Regional Office for Europe, supported by Mrs Nathalie Burke representing the WMO Executive Management. A well-prepared PowerPoint presentation was used to structure the discussions.

The pre-briefing event demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering inclusivity and efficiency within the WMO community. With attendees equipped with tools, knowledge, and a clear roadmap, the RA VI–19 session is poised for success.
