RA V RBON Webinar
About the Webinar
The webinar, hosted by the WMO Regional Association V (South-West Pacific), shines a spotlight on the Regional Basic Observing Network (RBON) - a key initiative to strengthen regional meteorological capabilities.
Led by the RA V Working Group on Infrastructure (WG-I) and its Expert Team on Regional WIGOS Implementation (ET-WIGOS), this webinar provided RA V Members and their technical teams with a clear understanding of RBON's purpose, structure, and strategic value. Participants will also gain insights into the tools and systems supporting its implementation, including WIS 2.0, and the upcoming RA V-19(I) draft resolution.

When we transition to WIS 2.0, should we shadow operations with GTS? If so, for how long?
+
GTS will still be operational until the planned switch-off in 2033. However, all new data will not be on GTS from the start of WIS 2.0 operations. So, current GTS users would be able to receive the same data they are receiving now from GTS, but no new data.
