CREWS/SWFP-Eastern Africa In-Country Training Workshop on Enhancing Severe Weather Forecasting in South Sudan (Part-2)

The CREWS/SWFP–Eastern Africa In-Country Training on Enhancing Severe Weather Forecasting in South Sudan (Part-2) is organized in Juba from 1 to 5 September 2025. The training is supported through CREWS East Africa project funds with technical assistance from RSMC Dar es Salaam. The training is organized as continuation of Part-1 (held during16-19 June 2025) and is part of a broader capacity development program aimed at enhancing the severe weather forecasting services of the South Sudan Meteorological Services (SSMS). It also seeks to address operational forecasters' capacity development needs. Part-2 of the training will focus on reviewing the severe weather forecasts produced in test-mode following the Part-1 workshop. Additionally, it will cover topics and practices related to Impact-Based Forecast and Warning Services (IBFWS), as well as the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) standards for effective warning communication."
