World Meteorological Organization

The focal point shall preferably be selected from the group of RA II experts appointed to the Research Board and under the guidance of the president of RA II and MG, in collaboration with the Working Groups and Thematic Coordinators,

(1) Follow up on the resolutions, decisions and recommendations of the World Meteorological Congress, EC, RA II and RA II MG, addressing research matters (Strategic Goal 3), for the activities to be undertaken at a regional level;

(2) Identify research needs among Members, including the implementation of the regional aspects of the World Weather Research Programme (WWRP), the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and the Global Atmosphere Watch Programme (GAW), and support capacity-development activities (Strategic Goal 4), to be included in the RA II Operating Plan;

(3) Reach out and promote collaboration with research institutions, academia and other stakeholders to enhance national and regional partnerships for weather, climate, water and environmental related research, on behalf of the association.
