Terms of Reference

(a) Review and further develop the technical and operational specifications for the components and interfaces of WIS Centres; develop criteria for interoperability, certification and service quality management of WIS Centres,
(b) Work in close collaboration with the Expert Teams on WIS 2.0 to contribute to the evolution of WIS to meet the needs of operational WIS Centres (GISC, DCPC, NC),
(c) Contribute to the implementation of WIS 2.0 to ensure continuous successful operations,
(d) Maintain guidance and management procedures for assessment capabilities of WIS centres as described in the Manual on WIS,
(e) Review and develop the Manual on WIS (WMO-No. 1060), the Guide to WIS (WMO No. 1061) and associated informal guidance to better meet the needs of Members in relation to WIS operational activities,
(f) Maintain WIS competencies related to WIS centre operations and associated training and learning guides; facilitate training on WIS by GISCs and Regional Training Centres,
(g) Review, further develop and oversee routine WIS monitoring and incident resolution activities,
(h) Monitor metadata quality and effectiveness within the WIS catalogue and take actions to address identified issues,
(i) Support the use and continual improvement of tools and practices to monitor the data exchange in WIS to support all WMO programmes, supporting the development of a replacement of the Integrated WWW Monitoring (IWM),
(j) Support the use and continual improvement of tools and practices to monitor the quality of metadata in WIS to support all WMO programmes,
(k) Generate key figures and thresholds and adjust them during ongoing operations,
(l) Support the development of WIGOS operational data exchange monitoring systems and tools,
(m) Foster collaboration among WIS centres,
(n) Explore evolving new monitoring service and user management technologies with the aim of improving the efficient operation and usability of WIS
