The document provides guidelines for the implementation of a range of satellite nowcasting options available for Africa with the advent of the Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellite system. The guidelines provide recommendations to help facilitate the implementation, development of capacity and sustainability of services over time. They can be used to create roadmaps for the establishment and maintenance of nowcasting functions in African countries.

The intended readership includes NMHSs in Africa, Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres (RSMCs), Regional Training Centres (RTCs), WMO-Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS) VLab Centres of Excellence for Training in Satellite Meteorology.
