Aviation | News | 2023-02-28 | Approval of major updates to WMO Guides in aeronautical meteorology
Earlier today (28 February 2023), the Seventy-Sixth Session of the Executive Council (EC-76) approved, through the formulation of Resolutions 3.1(7)/1 and 3.1(7)/2 [provisional resolution numbers], the publication of major updates to the following two WMO Guides:
- WMO-No. 732, Guide to Services for Aviation (formerly titled 'Guide to Practices for Meteorological Office Serving Aviation)
- WMO-No. 904, Guide to Aeronautical Meteorological Services Cost Recovery: Principles and guidance
The two WMO Guides were last updated in 2003 and 2007 respectively.
The approval of the 2023 updates to WMO-Nos. 732 and 904 represents the culmination of work over the past 18-months within the Standing Committee on Services for Aviation (with the assistance of two WMO Consultants) and the Services Commission.
Now that the Executive Council has approved the 2023 updates to WMO-Nos. 732 and 904, the manuscripts will now be submitted for multilingual translation and publication. The WMO Guides are expected to be published in Q3 2023.
