Aviation | News | 2023-07-21 | Expert of AG-VSA becomes new President of IAVCEI
Prof. Costanza Bonadonna, a core expert in the Advisory Group on Volcanic Science for Applications (AG-VSA) of WMO's Standing Committee on Services for Aviation (SC-AVI), has recently been elected as President of the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI) for the period 2023-2027.
Costanza is an earth scientist and a professor of physical volcanology and geological risk at the University of Geneva in Switzerland.
IAVCEI is one of eight semi-automonous associations of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).
WMO/AG-VSA and the IUGG/IAVCEI closely collaborated recently in the conducting of an Eighth International Workshop on Volcanic Ash (IWVA-8). Find out more about IWVA-8 here and read the full report on the proceedings here.
