Research Board

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Research Board held a virtual inaugural session on 6-8 April 2020 with representation from the Infrastructure Commission (INFCOM), Services Commission (SERCOM) and the Hydrological Coordination Panel (HCP). The agenda included an introduction to the work of the three research programmes, a discussion on the priority topics identified under the Science for Services Umbrella (as shown in Figure 1), and emerging issues, including COVID-19, exascale computing, data handling and artificial intelligence). Outcomes from the meeting include the following decisions:

(1)    To establish a Task Team on SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19; and

(2)    to establish a Task Team on Exascale Computing, Data Handling, and Artificial Intelligence.
