Flood Forecasting Initiative Advisory Group, meeting Q4 (2024)
The purpose of this meeting is to establish a foundational understanding of the WMO Flood Forecasting Initiative (FFI) by reviewing its history, key milestones, and current status. The group will assess past achievements, ongoing tasks, and the relevance of the FFI within the current WMO structure. This meeting will initiate a review of the Plan of Action (PoA) for Hydrology to ensure alignment with the broader objectives of the Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (MHEWS). Additionally, the meeting will address the significance of community-based flood management to enhance last-mile outreach efforts, while reviewing critical documents such as the proposed Catalogue of Hazardous Events (CHE), the Terms of Reference for the Advisory Group on Socioeconomic Benefits (AG-SEB), and the Flash Flood Guidance System with Global Coverage (FFGS) Implementation Plan.
