Fourth Session of the Research Board (RB-4)

Overview

The Research Board held its fourth session virtually over two days, from 7 to 8 July 2022. The session was divided into four meetings, including two meetings for regional representatives (to accommodate time zones), one meeting for invited experts and representatives of INFCOM and SERCOM and one meeting for the Research Programme Chairs. Each meeting had the same agenda, but smaller groups allowed for more productive and targeted conversations. Agenda items included reviewing relevant EC-75 decisions pertinent to the Research Board, updates on outstanding Research Board action items and activities, and a brainstorming session on the roles and responsibilities of the Research Board. This session helped lay the groundwork for the first hybrid session in September 2022.

Summary of Key Outcomes

  1. decision to provide joint feedback to the Scientific Advisory Panel on the draft Vision Paper, in collaboration with INFCOM and SERCOM; and
  2. decision to initiate a coordinated programme of regional workshops that brings together the Research Board’s Science for Services and Innovation in Regions Concept Notes.
