Regional Training on MHEWS Interoperability Implementation (New Delhi, 9-13 December 2024)

The Executive Council of WMO in its seventy-sixth session (EC-76) (Feb/Mar 2023) through its Resolution 15 (EC-76) - Multi-hazard Early Warning Services Interoperable Environment decided to adopt the Concept Note on Multi-hazard Early Warning Services (MHEWS) Interoperable Environment Framework. The concept note on MHEWS Interoperable Environment (MIE) Framework was developed taking into account Severe Weather Forecasting Programme (SWFP), Tropical Cyclone Programme (TCP), Coastal Inundation Forecast Initiative (CIFI), Flash Flood Guidance System (FFGS) and riverine flood forecasting as part of the consolidated MHEWS environment considering the integral role of these initiatives in disaster risk reduction (DRR) activities. The Regional Training on MHEWS Interoperability Implementation will be held in New Delhi from 9 to 13 December 2024. This first regional training, planned for the WMO Members in South Asia, will be hosted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The training aims to show case good practices for promoting and strengthening MIE and to provide participants with the technical guidance and information that may be useful for implementing multi-hazard and multi-disciplinary collaboration between National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and other entities in support of MHEWS and the UN Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative. The training will include practical/hands-on interactive sessions for the participants to share their MHEWS related experience and interoperability practices including challenges and opportunities. - Information Note for participants - Provisional Training Program |
