Overview

The WMO Research Board held its seventh session virtually on 17 February 2023. The priority issue discussed at this meeting was the appraisal of recommendations developed by the Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) for the 76th Session of the Executive Council (EC-76), as requested by the WMO Policy Advisory Committee in December 2022. Additional agenda items included discussions on the Early Warning for All Initiative, next steps in planning the regional workshops, and the ongoing establishment of a Task Team on Data Exchange. Additionally, updates were provided on the WCRP Open Science Conference and the Global Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Infrastructure Initiative.

 

Summary of Identified Action Items

  1. vote to endorse the draft Terms of Reference for the Task Team on Data Exchange;
  2. draft an appraisal of SAP recommendations based on discussions and the prioritization exercise to be submitted to Executive Council;
  3. conduct a stocktake of ongoing efforts across the research programmes that are contributing to the Early Warning for All Initiative; and
  4. conduct a stocktake of ongoing efforts across the research programmes that are contributing to the GHG Infrastructure Initiative.
