Overview

The WMO Research Board held its sixth session virtually on 2 December 2022. The agenda included a review of outstanding action items, updates on EC-PHORS, the Global Atmosphere Watch Programme and the Unified Data Policy, a review of documents for EC-76 and approval of new members for the World Weather Research Programme Scientific Steering Committee and World Climate Research Programme Joint Scientific Committee.

 

Summary of Key Outcomes

  • endorsed the new Global Atmosphere Watch Programme Implementation Plan 2024-2027;
  • approved the Global Atmosphere Watch Statement of Support;
  • decided to facilitate collaborations between the Research Programmes and EC-PHORS;
  • established a Task Team to carry forward Task #4 of the Focus Group on Unified Data Policy regarding data exchange with researchers;
  • approved the renewal of a World Weather Research Programme Scientific Steering Committee and appointment of a new member to the Committee; and
  • endorsed the list of recommended candidates to fill WCRP Joint Scientific Committee open positions
