Overview

The Tenth Session of the Research Board (RB-10) provided an opportunity for members to review action items from the Ninth session of the Research Board (RB-9) held in September 2023, discuss the upcoming 78th Session of the World Meteorological Executive Council (EC-78) in June 2024, review outcomes from the cryosphere stocktaking exercise, discuss Board leadership and membership, review the proposed Terms of Reference for two new Task Teams, and discuss the latest developments on kilometre-scale modelling across the scientific community.

 

Summary of Key Outcomes

  1. endorsement of the Task Team on Hydrology Terms of Reference;
  2. endosrsement of the updated World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) and World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) programme descriptions
  3. the re-selection of the RB Chair for a second two-year term;
  4. identification of next steps to revise the EW4All Task Team Terms of Reference
  5. identification of next steps to revise the RB Rules of Procedure for virtual endorsement
  6. identification of next steps to move issue a call for new members in early 2024.
