Background
To mark World Environment Day, the World Trade Organization (WTO) will be hosting an event on June 5 at which the opportunities for developing economies and least developed countries to exploit competitive advantages in clean energies will be discussed. One key challenge to tapping this potential is ensuring sustained financing support to help firms access the opportunities that emerge from the clean energy transition.
An expert panel will highlight the trade-led development opportunities that arise when expanding clean energy generation and access. Discussions will highlight opportunities for trade integration along clean energy value chains, and the broader opportunities for export diversification that the clean energy transition may offer for developing countries.
