Energy mini projects
National mini-projects are specific small-scale projects for development of a tailored energy product or services to address exact need of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS). Selected proposals will lead to short-duration technical support projects, funded by the WMO SG-ENE and other potential partners. These science-based projects are targeted at the adoption of innovative approaches (mainly machine learning) using different sources of data to improve the modelling and forecasting of energy demand and/or renewable power generation.
Currently, there’re two national mini-projects:
- Development and implementation of a high-resolution, wind speed and direction forecasting model for wind power plants in Costa Rica
- Evaporation model for large bodies of water with floating solar panel in Chile (link will be added when ready)
