Africa Programme Coordination Meeting

On 1-5 March 2021, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Weather and Climate Information Services for Africa (WISER) co-hosted the Africa Programme Coordination meeting which aimed to gain a better understanding of ongoing and planned initiatives, approaches, mechanisms, priorities with a view to identify potential areas for collaboration and to avoid duplication of efforts to strengthen outcomes on weather, water and climate services in Africa. The meeting included multilateral development banks, bilateral donors and UN agencies.

The goals of the meeting were to:

  • better understand investment gaps in each of the sub-regions and how, partners can collectively deliver in a cohesive and collaborative way;
  • agree on a coordination mechanism for systematic exchange of information and collaboration among development partners for harmonized interventions at the regional and national levels.
