8 December, 2021 (Wednesday)

12:30-15:00 UTC (13:30-16:00 CET / Geneva time)

The main purpose of the ET-MIE is to assist the technical commissions in addressing the relevant Cg-18 decisions made through Resolution 15 (Cg-18) - Strengthening Multi-Hazard Early Warning Services in Areas Prone to all Flooding Types and Severe Weather which also requested the technical commissions and related WMO bodies, in consultation with the regional associations, to prepare for consideration by the WMO Executive Council  a concept document that assesses the approaches, feasibility, cost and timelines of developing an interoperable multi-hazard early warning systems (MHEWS) environment taking into account the conclusions, findings and recommendations of independent technical reviews of CIFDP, FFGS and SWFDP (Part A) and the consolidated report on concept for an integrated MHEWS (Part B).

In its fourth meeting, the ET-MIE is expected to review work progress of the drafting teams (which were established during ET-MIE-3 and were tasked for preparing zero drafts of various chapters of the MHEWS Concept during Q4 2021) and to discuss the way forward.
