Approved by EC-PHORS-11:
AntAG will function under the general terms of reference of advisory groups and carry out relevant tasks on the implementation, coordination and strategic priorities of WMO-related activities in Antarctica (60-90S) across the observations, research and services (OR&S) spectrum, on advocacy and partnership priorities of the WMO Members:
1. Support EC-PHORS in fulfilling its mandated responsibilities in relation to Antarctica,
2. Advise EC-PHORS on emerging opportunities to improve WMO-related outcomes and identify/address strategic priorities in Antarctica, including as relevant to INFCOM, SERCOM and RB, e.g., issues related to surface and upper-air observations, data exchange and data management, etc.,
3. Provide oversight of the implementation of the Antarctic RCC-Network and the Antarctica Regional Climate Forum (AntRCOF),
4. Establish and oversee an informal Antarctic dialogue linking WMO Members with an interest in Antarctica to facilitate information exchange and coordination of relevant activities contributing to enhanced outcomes and improved efficiency for Members in delivering their national programmes and for WMO as a whole, consistent with the Earth system approach and the WMO strategic plan,
5. Establish and maintain mutually beneficial engagements and facilitate the exchange of information on WMO-related Antarctic activities between operational and scientific communities of Members and partners, aligned with the scope of work, including, for example via the Annual Workshops on Antarctic Meteorology and Climate (WAMC),
6. Provide assistance and advice to Members and regional associations in developing and implementing national and regional plans relevant to activities in Antarctica,
7. Support EC-PHORS in relation to contributions and recommendations on behalf of WMO to ATCM, CEP, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programmes (COMNAP).
