In addition to Environment and Climate Change Canada, several other federal departments produce climate-related data and information products related to oceans, permafrost, and sector-targeted information (e.g. forestry, agriculture). Further, Canada’s provinces and territories produce climate-related data and information in areas of their jurisdiction, including (but not limited to) water resources, air quality, and flood risk. Several types of organizations contribute to the delivery of climate services, and/or interfacing with users so as to align products and services to user needs, including all levels of government (i.e. federal, provincial, territorial and municipal), regional climate consortia, academia, non-government organizations, and the private sector. The diversity of providers creates an important role for Environment and Climate Change Canada to provide national leadership and coordination of climate services in Canada.
