Introduction

The first meeting of the Standing Committee on Services for Aviation (SC-AVI) Advisory Group on Volcanic Science for Applications (AG-VSA-1) took place in Rotorua, New Zealand from 7 to 9 February 2023.

The objectives of the meeting were to review the outcomes of the preceding IAVCEI Scientific Assembly and IWVA-8 that would result in an update to the AG-VSA Operating Plan (2022–2023), to initiate the development of an AG-VSA Operating Plan for the next financial period (2024–2027), and to conduct joint sessions with the ICAO METP WG-MOG (IAVW work stream) on matters of common interest or concern.
