The Second Session of the WMO Services Commission (SERCOM-2, 17 to 21 October 2022) will consider a proposed amendment to the Technical Regulations (WMO-No. 49), Volume I, General Meteorological Standards and Recommended Practices and an update to the Compendium of WMO Competency Frameworks (WMO-No. 1209) addressing the qualification and competency requirements for aeronautical meteorological personnel (AMP).

Ahead of SERCOM-2, WMO Members are invited to participate in drop-in 'question and answer (Q&A)' online information sessions to discuss questions or impacts relating to the proposals. The sessions will be convened online through Microsoft Teams or Zoom and are available across the WMO Regional Associations at the following dates and times:

  • Regional Association I (Africa) and Regional Association VI (Europe): Tuesday 20 September 2022, 1100-1230 UTC [REGISTER TO ATTEND HERE by 9 September 2022]
  • Regional Association II (Asia) and Regional Association V (South-West Pacific): Wednesday 21 September 2022, 0400-0530 UTC [REGISTER TO ATTEND HERE by 9 September 2022]
  • Regional Association III (South America) and Regional Association IV (North America, Central America and the Caribbean): Thursday 22 September 2022, 1600-1730 UTC [REGISTER TO ATTEND HERE by 9 September 2022]

Login credentials will be sent to registrants approximately one week prior to each information session. 

A side-event (in-person only) on this important topic will also be held during the SERCOM-2 session. Information will be available on the SERCOM-2 website in due course.
