RA II HydroSOS Implementation Workshop

The WMO Hydrological Status and Outlook System (HydroSOS) initiative intends to support countries in providing an operational system capable of assessing the current hydrological status and its likely near-future outlook (sub-seasonal to seasonal time frames) and be able to disseminate them for all areas of the globe. The System is delivered by National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs), offering simple, accessible hydrological information to users such as government bodies, basin managers, funding institutions, aid agencies, UN bodies, and the general public.

Resolution 6 of the RA II 17th Session requested “the RA II CP Hydrology to develop a regional implementation plan for HydroSOS” and “the Secretary-General to [...] support regional and subregional hydrological outlook forums”.

Therefore, the RA II HydroSOS Implementation Workshop was held in Vientiane, Laos from 1 to 3 November 2022 with the following objectives and outcomes:

Objectives

1. Understand HydroSOS needs and capacities of the sub-regions of RA II

2. Agree on the way forward for developing the RA II HydroSOS Implementation Plan and draft it

Expected Outcomes
