Hybrid Workshop for Regional WIGOS Centres in RA IV
The workshop for Regional WIGOS Centres (RWCs) in RA IV was held in hybrid format on 13-15 December 2002, in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Structure of the Workshop
The Workshop was organized in the two following parts/meetings:
A) A meeting with in person and online participation of the representatives of hosting countries on RWC in RA IV to review and discuss the implementation plan
B) A hybrid training Workshop on RWC functions and WIGOS tools for both representatives of the Members establishing RWC and for national focal points (NFP) of all RA IV Members to allow them to fully understand their roles within operation process of RWC and to use the WIGOS tools efficiently to perform their tasks.
Objectives of the Workshop
The meeting with the representatives of hosting countries on RWC in RA IV was held with the objectives of reviewing, further developing and finalizing the implementation plan for establishment of RWC in RA IV.
The hybrid training workshop was planned and organized to support the establishment of RWC in RA IV with the following objectives:
- To deliver training on the RWC functions and roles of hosting Members and affiliated Members
- To deliver training on the WIGOS tools (OSCAR/Surface, WDQMS webtool and Incident Management System for RWCs)
- To get feedback from the Members on using of WIGOS tools and performing RWC functions
- To introduce the concept of RWC structure in RA IV
Outcomes of the Workshop
The outcome of the first part of the workshop was proposed to develop an implementation plan with conclusion of all participants identifying the operational structure, roles and responsibilities of each RWC node, and further activities with proposed timeline
The expected learning outcomes of the hybrid training part are as follows:
- Improved skills of participants to use the WIGOS tools particularly for RWC functions,
- Increased awareness and better understanding of participants on their responsibilities related to RWC functions
