RA VI Working Group on Services and Applications - April 2025 Meeting - Highlights

The RA VI Working Group on Services and Applications convened at the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) headquarters in Offenbach, Germany, bringing together key regional stakeholders to review progress and plan strategically for the future. The meeting served as a platform to assess the implementation of the 2022–2025 intersessional plan, kick-off discussion for the further planning and ensure alignment with the WMO Strategic Plan and the Services Commission Programme for 2024–2027. Participants discussed how to better streamline efforts across the region to strengthen the delivery of services and applications.

A significant focus of the meeting was the introduction of the WMO Planner Tool, designed to enhance coordination and transparency among regional actors. The Working Group examined the newly developed roles and responsibilities, defined through Terms of Reference and structured under a Matrix management approach. This approach aims to clarify accountability and improve collaborative workflows across different activities and priority areas.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of fostering regional synergies to better respond to shared challenges and opportunities. Through open dialogue and structured planning, participants agreed on a clear way forward, reinforcing their commitment to regional cooperation and continuous service improvement in RA VI. The outcomes will directly support the implementation of high-impact, user-driven weather, climate, water, and environmental services in the region.
