[TT-CliRen] Task Team on Climate Reanalysis

The WMO Unified Policy for the International Exchange of Earth System Data was adopted by the World Meteorological Congress through Resolution 1 (Cg-Ext(2021)). One important aspect is broadening and enhancing the free and unrestricted international exchange of Earth system data.

The World Meteorological Congress requested the president of the Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (INFCOM), to initiate a process for amending the Manual on the WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (WIPPS, previously Global Data-processing and Forecasting System (GDPFS)) (WMO-No. 485) in order to implement the Resolution.

Within this context, a task team of the INFCOM Standing Committee on Data Processing for Applied Earth System Modelling and Prediction (SC-ESMP) has been formed in order to incorporate the climate reanalysis in the Manual on the WIPPS. At the meeting, the task team on climate reanalyses (TT-CliRen) will develop the functions and a minimum set of core and recommended data of a new WIPPS activity on climate reanalysis, considering user requirements.
