Manual on the WMO Information System (WMO-No. 1060), Volume II – WMO Information System 2.0

Annex VII to the WMO Technical Regulations

The manual is designed to ensure that the data, information and communication practices, procedures and specifications that WMO Members employ in the operation of the WMO Information System (WIS) are adequately uniform and standard.

Cg-19 (May 2023) approved the division of the Manual on WMO Information System (WMO-No. 1060) into two volumes, of which volume II describes WIS2, and EC-78 (June 2024) endorsed this new manual.

The FT2026-1 amendments are available for comment by National Focal Points on WIS Matters until 8 June 2026.

• FT2026-1 amendments - includes revisions to WIS2 Topic Hierarchy, notification messages, and discovery metadata specifications. 
• FT2025-2 amendments - includes revisions to WIS2 Topic Hierarchy, Notification Message, Discovery metadata specifications, and the WIS2 Guide.  (Approved in January 2026)
• FT2024-2 amendments - includes revisions to WNM, WTH (Approved in November 2024)
