Continuous Knowledge Exchange for HydroSOS Implementation in RA VI: Case Studies and Examples
The Continuous Knowledge Exchange for HydroSOS Implementation in RA VI is an ongoing activity established by the RA VI HydroSOS Task Team to facilitate regular sharing of experiences, lessons learned, and practical examples related to the implementation of the WMO Hydrological Status and Outlook System (HydroSOS).
Building on the HydroSOS Technical Session series, the initiative provides a structured opportunity for Members and partners to showcase implementation progress, discuss challenges and solutions, exchange methodologies, and highlight emerging operational practices. The focus is on peer-to-peer learning and the dissemination of practical knowledge that can support the uptake and operationalization of HydroSOS products and services across the Region.
Members, partners, and technical contributors are invited to submit short case studies, examples of operational implementation, technical notes, presentations, or other materials illustrating HydroSOS-related activities. Contributions may address national or transboundary applications, technical developments, institutional arrangements, operational workflows, data integration approaches, and research supporting service delivery.
Submitted materials will be made available through the HydroSOS Task Team Knowledge Hub, creating a growing repository of experiences and examples that can support capacity development, replication of good practices, and collaboration among Members.
Key Themes
- Operational hydrological status and outlook services and HydroSOS implementation
- Automated HydroSOS generation and workflow development
- National and transboundary basin applications
- Governance, coordination, and institutional arrangements
- Research-to-operations developments, including drought monitoring and forecasting
- Use of Copernicus, C3S Water Service, and other external datasets and services in HydroSOS workflows
- Lessons learned from pilot projects and operational implementation
How to Submit
Contributions should be submitted by email to the HydroSOS Team: RAVI-CPH
groups [dot] wmo [dot] int (RAVI-HydroSOS[at]groups[dot]wmo[dot]int). Participants are also encouraged to use this channel for any questions, clarifications, or expressions of interest in contributing.
A Microsoft Forms-based case study submission tool will be introduced shortly to support continuous submissions beyond the event.
This initiative supports ongoing knowledge sharing between HydroSOS pilot teams, technical partners, and Members, strengthening collaboration and accelerating the transition from pilot activities to operational services across RA VI.
