The RA VI Regional Climate Centre (RCC) Coordination Team met online on 11 May 2026 to review ongoing coordination and future priorities for regional climate services in Europe. Representatives of all RA VI RCC Nodes, the RA VI RCC Coordinator and the WMO Regional Office for Europe participated in the meeting.

The Coordination Team reviewed and endorsed the updated draft framework document describing the operations and service structure of the RA VI RCC Network ahead of the nineteenth session of Regional Association VI (RA VI-19). The Document will be further presented for review to the RA VI WG for Services and Applications.

Participants highlighted the importance of increasing the visibility and accessibility of RCC and Regional Climate Outlook Forum (RCOF) activities through enhanced information sharing and improved access to regional climate service resources. The meeting also reaffirmed the strong collaboration among RCC Nodes in supporting coordinated climate monitoring, forecasting and climate services across Region VI. The Expert Profile of the RA VI RCC Coordination Team was also endorsed for publication on the WMO Knowledge Hub.

The meeting marked the final participation of Dr Peter Bissolli of the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) as RA VI RCC Network Climate Monitoring Node Lead ahead of his retirement in June 2026. Participants expressed their appreciation for Dr Bissolli’s longstanding contributions to regional climate services, particularly his leadership in the development of the Climate Watch Advisory system and strengthening regional coordination mechanisms across RA VI. Dr Bissolli was also recognised for his important contribution to the development of the KRONER database, helping to strengthen the integration of climate impact information into regional climate monitoring and advisory services.
