CREWS-SIEWAP Inception Workshop
Honiara, Solomon Islands
About the Workshop
The Scale up Early Warning and Action in the Pacific (SIEWAP) is a four-year (2025-2028) regional Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Initiative-funded project in the Pacific. The primary objective of the SIEWAP Project is to scale up people-centred and end-to-end multi-hazard early warning systems (MHEWSs) across the Pacific. The initiative will cover Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
The purpose of the inception workshop is to provide an opportunity for CREWS SIEWAP Project participating countries and respective national and regional partners, National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and National Disaster Management Offices (NDMOs), to review, discuss, validate the project and it's proposed activities.
The workshop is planned for a day in Honiara, Solomon Islands at the FFA Conference Room.

When we transition to WIS 2.0, should we shadow operations with GTS? If so, for how long?
+GTS will still be operational until the planned switch-off in 2033. However, all new data will not be on GTS from the start of WIS 2.0 operations. So, current GTS users would be able to receive the same data they are receiving now from GTS, but no new data.
