WWRP Members Honoured by the American Meteorological Society
The WWRP community is delighted to celebrate three outstanding recognitions announced by the American Meteorological Society (AMS). Urban-PREDICT members Olga Wilhelmi and Shiguang Miao have received prestigious honours, alongside WWRP Scientific Steering Committee member Daryl Kleist.

The WWRP community is delighted to celebrate two outstanding recognitions for members of the Urban-PREDICT group, both announced by the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
Olga Wilhelmi Elected AMS Fellow
Olga Wilhelmi from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in the United States and a Steering Group member of the Urban-PREDICT Project has been elected as a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, one of the Society's highest honours. AMS Fellowship recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the atmospheric or related sciences over a substantial period of time. This distinction reflects Olga's sustained leadership and impact in advancing urban climate research and its applications for societal resilience.
Daryl Kleist Elected AMS Fellow
Daryl Kleist, from NCAR in the United States and a member of the WWRP Scientific Steering Committee, has also been elected as a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society. This prestigious recognition reflects his significant and sustained contributions to atmospheric science, as well as his scientific leadership and service to the wider weather research community.
Shiguang Miao Receives the AMS Helmut E. Landsberg Award
Shiguang Miao from the Institute of Urban Meteorology in China, who serves as Urban-PREDICT's Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) liaison, has received the AMS Helmut E. Landsberg Award. The award recognises exemplary contributions to the fields of urban meteorology, climatology, or hydrology — including advances in understanding atmospheric processes in urban environments, improved forecasting capabilities, and quantifying the impacts of urbanization on climate.
Both honours underscore the calibre of research and leadership within the Urban-PREDICT group and its contribution to the broader WWRP mission of advancing weather research for societal benefit. Please join us in congratulating these experts on their well-deserved recognitions!
