The Hydrometeorology and HydroSOS component of the TCI is led by Tania Gascon, who acts as a Project Officer at the WMO.

In the area of Hydrometeorology and Hydrological Status and Outlook System (HydroSOS), the TCI promotes integrated technical coordination to improve hydrological monitoring, forecasting, and water resource management. By mobilizing expertise from WMO technical units, hydrological services, regional centres, and external partners, the initiative supports projects that address water-related hazards and strengthen hydrological observing and forecasting capabilities. The TCU facilitates collaboration across disciplines and regions, ensuring that operational experiences and technical recommendations are systematically captured and shared through communities of practice and public knowledge hubs. This crosscutting and inclusive approach enables Members to better apply WMO standards and guidance, strengthens hydro-meteorological service delivery, and supports informed operational and policy decisions related to droughts, floods, and water security.
