| General Site Information | |
The WMO Measurement Lead Centre on Ground-based Integrated Meteorological Observation (Changsha MLC) is located in Changsha, Hunan Province, China. Situated within the 30°N rainfall belt in a subtropical continental monsoon humid climate region, the Centre experiences a wide range of severe weather (e.g., torrential rain, extreme heat and drought, freezing events, intense convective storms). These climatic conditions make the site an ideal “open-air laboratory” for end-to-end weather radar testing, validation and development of ground-based meteorological observing methods and instrumentation. The Centre provides comprehensive testbed services for instrument testing, calibration, verification and operational evaluation, and plays a leading role in national radar standardization and meteorological instrumentation R&D. | |
